Dog surrendered to Rescue because: Other
Other Reason: Owners said they had no time for him.
Good With:
  • Other Dogs
  • Strangers
  • Children
Dog Likes:
  • Water
  • Retrieving
  • Car Rides
Working Ability:
Working Comments: His foster home does not have cats. He is very interested in bunnies and squirrels and anything else that moves, so he would probably chase a cat but he doesn't seem interested in harming or eating the bunnies and squirrels, so I believe he would be easily taught to coexist with a cat.
Behavioral Problems:
Other Behavioral Problems: Marcus is still pretty much a giant puppy. He is starved for human interaction and sometimes gets exuberant and jumps on you to give hugs - he loves hugs - We are working on that issue.
Bitten? No
Bite Explanation:
Commands known:
  • Sit
  • Come
Tricks: When he first came into rescue, he did not know how to play fetch. After just a week, he had it figured out. He doesn't retrieve to hand yet, but he will go get a thrown object and bring it back.
Other Info: He is very new to rescue so we are letting him settle in and will update his profile as we get to know him. He is a very large boy - has a good coat but ribs are sticking out under that fur so he will need to put a little weight on. He likes other dogs and wants very much to play with them. He is a submissive boy and does not display aggression toward other animals or toward people. He is not a runner and has not expressed any interest in escaping the yard. He is very affectionate and very people-oriented and just wants to be close to his human. He is initially wary when meeting new people, particularly men, but he warms up quickly and then remembers the person the next time he sees them, and greets them like they are old friends.
