Working Ability:
Working Comments: I don't see George as being a great hunt prospect. He is really improving fast on the car rides - has started to enjoy them now that he knows it means either something fun or a treat. He will chase after a ball and carry it for a bit in his mouth and then toss it aside so not a huge retrieve drive. We haven't had a chance to go swimming yet so I can't answer whether he has learned that in his previous life. George is fine with normal thunderstorms but he gets a little nervous with the extreme thunder that we've seen this past week. But he isn't extreme - just acts a little nervous.
Behavioral Problems:
Other Behavioral Problems: George is still a youngster, so I would advise watching what you leave laying out. So far all he has done is collect shoes and pile them up. He hasn't chewed on any of them.
Bitten? No
Bite Explanation:
Commands known:
  • Sit
  • Come
Tricks: We have started lessons on come and sit and he's doing well. We will continue lessons as long as he is here. He's a smart pup and learns easily.
Other Info: 6/20/18 - George was neutered today. Vet agreed that he is an 18 month old chessie mix. He is really doing well - has pretty much earned house freedom with the rest of the resident dogs and cats. He adores my 8 and 11 yr old granddaughters and loves for them to take him for walks. George will truly make someone a wonderful companion dog! He's a smart, active, and adorable guy! Initial evaluation of George is that he has been a house dog before. He is very comfortable jumping on our bed and the recliner and making himself at home. He hasn't been crate trained but he will be in the next few days. He is good on leash but doesn't seem that he's been taught any other obedience commands. But he is a very sweet and loving pup - loves being cuddled and giving kisses. I think that he is going to make someone a very nice companion dog. He doesn't seem to have an aggressive bone in his body and with continued socialization I see no reason that should change. He did become quite nervous with a sudden and loud thunderstorm that rolled through today, but he didn't freak out. Stay tuned as we get to know him better -- George is definitely a mix, my guess would be a lab/chessie but only his parents know for sure. He's a sweet dog.
