DOGID: 2372
Name: Madeline
Location: Glen Ellyn, IL
Age: 8
Color: Brown
Sex: female
Weight: 83 lbs.
Neutered? yes
Vaccines:
  • Rabies
  • DHLPP
  • Heartworm Preventative
Heartworm Negative? Yes
Health Conditions: Madeline has incontinence that seems to happen when she is in a deep sleep. She does know what "go potty" means, and I take her out before we go to bed. We will be asking her Vet for advice, which may include medication or simply monitoring her water intake after dinner.

Madeline developed laryngeal paralysis. Without surgery she would have died. Madeline went through a procedure that sutered back one of the vocal chords to be in a permanently open position. She is doing great. But we could use your help to help pay for the surgery.

Please help us care for Madeline by making a donation to our Mick Memorial Fund for the care of senior dogs with othopedic issues.

Other Info: Madeline overall is doing fine. She is a bit of food hound, but at least a polite food hound. She has vacuumed up any crumbs on the floor, and even vacuums the crumbs out of the trash, and sometimes from the kitchen counter for us. She has a fine appreciation for the water in the toilet! She has been OK with my cats, although she could inadvertently hurt a cat because she wants to play with it, as if it is a dog. That includes pawing, chasing, and general romping. She isn't aggressive with it, she is just big. When I say for her to leave the cat alone, she stops. We recommend that, if she is adopted by a family with cats, the cats have front claws or the family is willing to closely monitor Madeline's interaction with the cats. She leaves the guinea pig and the bird alone, unless I have drawn attention to them. Curiosity seems to be her overriding reason for any interaction. The bird is feisty, and knows how to give a well aimed nip at the nose. Madeline learns quickly!
