Colt went to the veterinarian on 7/6/2010. The vet said he does not appear to have any health concerns. Colt is under weight, likely becasue he was roaming for a while. He is gaining weight daily and building his strength back up. We believed Colt to be around 4 years old originally; however, the vet indicated he is more like 6 years old. What I thought was a scar on Colts belly was actually just dirt. |

Colt loves to retrieve on land and in the water. He drops the object at your feet and loves to please. He enjoys retrieving with children. We have not tested him to see if he gun shy or hunts yet. He walks well on a leash, sits, gives you his paw, and is very well behaved. We are still evaluating his abilities.

We are in the process of evaluating Colt. When he came to live with us, he was weak from roaming. We are in the process of determining his abilites. |

Colt seems to be a calm and loving Chessie. At first he was shy and weak because he was likely roaming for a while. Now that he has been with us a few days, he is starting to perk up and show more affection. He is a very sweet dog who needs love and is very happy to have attention. Colt grins and smiles more then any Chessie I have ever known.
7/7/2010 UPDATE: Colt is starting to feel comfortable around us and warming up. He is starting to snuggle and show affection. He absolutely loves the water and loves to swim. He went to the vet yesterday and did real well with several different animals and children of all ages. Colt loves to ride in the car. All you have to say is "lets go for a ride" and he gets excited. Colt does not stray or run on the beach or near the water. However, away from the water he will run. We are working on the command "come".
Colt has the biggest smile and looks like Elvis when he meets people for the first time. He truley has the largest Chessie smile I have ever seen!
