“Think of the story of the Princess and the Pea”
said the Veterinarian. Only for Henry, it isn’t a pea he can feel with every step, it’s more like a thorn.
Mind you, he doesn’t complain. And he’s as enthusiastic and playful as can be, but this sweet and loving
guy has been diagnosed with osteochondrosis (OCD) in both shoulders. Henry is between 18 months
and 2 years old, and the best guess is that he’s a delightful mix of Chesapeake Bay Retriever and
Border Collie…embodying the best qualities of both breeds. Henry’s never met a human he didn’t love
at first sight -- a quality that makes him the perfect family companion dog.
In simple terms, Henry needs surgery on
both shoulders to resolve the OCD by removing the “thorns”. With the surgery, Henry will have an
entire lifetime to love and play, free of shoulder pain, with an adoptive family. Without the surgery, Henry
will have continual low to moderate pain, punctuated with acute painful days when he plays too hard. His
pain will continue to increase over time as his condition deteriorates.
Please join CBR Rescue’s effort to get Henry
well so he can enjoy an active and pain-free life. If you'd like to help Henry,
please consider
making a tax-deductible donation to CBRR&R. Every donation
counts even if it's only $5.
