DOGID: 17098
Name: Roxie
Location: Fayetteville, NC
Age: 4
Color: Brown
Sex: female
Weight: 80
Neutered? yes
Vaccines: rabies, DHLPP, kennel cough, Heartworm preventative
Heartworm Negative? Yes
Health Conditions: She has allergies so eats only grain free food. I have to take her to the vet every 2-3 months to get her allergy shot.
Housetrained? yes
Dog surrendered to Rescue because: Other
Other Reason: She keeps attacking my other dog. I really haven't had any issues of aggression from Roxie since bringing her into our home four years ago. Within the last few months, however, Roxie has attacked my 8yr old shiba inu twice, causing major damage. The first time was over food. My little dog was eating out of Roxie's bowl and Roxie went ballistic. The second time didn't involve food at all. We were not home when it happened but I believe Roxie was anxious because the entire family was gone for two days and she just felt alone. Since my other dog is always hanging out upstairs in my daughter's room, I believe Roxie went upstairs and the other dog probably felt territorial and tried to attack. Roxie being the bigger of the two got the best of her. Both times Roxie did damage to the other dog's neck and upper back area requiring stitches.
Good With:
Dog Likes: water, retrieving;
Working Ability: good
Working Comments: No formal training but she fetches well and works good off the leash. On the leash is a little tricky. She walks well until she doesn't want to anymore. When she gets tired Roxie begins to jump around and makes it difficult to finish out the walk.
Behavioral Problems: separation anxiety, other problems
Other Behavioral Problems: Very jealous if another dog is shown attention. She tries to come between the person and the another dog and butts her way in. She tries to show dominance over other dogs. She seems to not like little kids either. Maybe because they are eye level to her. Roxie has never bit a child but has lunged towards one that was jumping in her face. Roxie loves being around people so when we are at home she is constantly following somebody around and laying at their feet.
Bitten? No
Bite Explanation:
Commands known: Sit, Stay, Down, Come
Tricks: Jump and huggie
Other Info: Roxie is a loveable dog but she can be jealous and clingy. She would be perfect for a single person or a family with no small children or other animals. If there are other animals in the house, then they shouldn't be smaller than Roxie.
